York Central School District has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from The NAMM Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education!
"This is a wonderful recognition for the York school and the community. We appreciate all of the hard work by our extraordinary music department staff, Mr. Vogel, Miss Aroune, Mrs. Daeffler, and Miss Dessert, and the dedication of our talented students. We are very proud of you all and this
accomplishment," said Superintendent of Schools David Furletti.
To qualify for the Best Communities for Music Education recognition, York School District provided data about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, and support for the music program and community music-making programs. Our data was verified and reviewed by The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas.
Research into music education shows that educational/cognitive and social skills of children who make music, all benefit from learning an instrument, reading music and singing.
Congratulations York CSD music program!
