This week we welcomed our new teachers to the York Golden Knights family. They spent three days on campus meeting other staff members, setting up their classrooms, and learning about our school and community.
Please join us in welcoming M/H School Art teacher Liz Miller, M/H School ELA teacher Hannah Smith, M/H School Chemistry teacher Alex Flint, Kindergarten teacher Hailie George, and Third Grade teacher Genevieve Moulton to YCS.

When students return to school in two weeks, they will find a new design on the floor connecting the fifth grade and middle school hallways.
Welcome to our new sensory path...
Occupational Therapist Erin Stiles and Physical Therapist Peggy Torpey were at school today designing the sensory path.
We know many students will enjoy a couple of moments of fun movement between their classes!

Congratulations to York High School Science teacher Mrs. Gillian Brubaker who recently attended the 2024 Noyce Summit in Washington, DC. as a Fellow Representative. She attended the Summit to present her project entitled: Enhancing Accessibility: Strengthening Vocabulary Instruction Within a Literature Rich Curriculum for Students with Emerging Literacy Skills.
Mrs. Brubaker is a graduate student in the Robert Noyce Master Teacher Fellowship Program at the University of Rochester’s Warner School of Education.
The Noyce Master Teacher Fellowship program focuses on developing digitally-rich teacher leaders who are dedicated to change around the issues of belonging, access, justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in STEM teaching and learning.
Mrs. Brubaker worked with two other teachers in the Noyce MTF program to develop the STEM teaching strategies. The project was well-received at the Summit by her colleagues in STEM education.
Currently, Mrs. Brubaker is working toward completing a Master's Degree in Inclusion and Special Education. Additionally, she will be completing three certificates in Urban Teaching and Leadership [UT1] Advanced Certificate, Digitally-Rich Teaching in K-12 Schools [OT3] Advanced Certificate, and Teacher Leadership [LT1] Advanced Certificate).
"Attending the summit provided an exceptional opportunity to explore the extensive network available to us through this program. I attended fascinating keynote speeches, lightning talks, and presentations that equipped me with invaluable resources. I plan to incorporate these insights into my classroom this fall. Presenting my teacher inquiry allowed me to connect with fellow educators, enabling me to continually adapt my curriculum and refine my practice to offer my students the most meaningful educational experience possible," Mrs. Brubaker commented.
The YCS Golden Knights family is very proud of Mrs. Brubaker’s participation in the Noyce Summit and her work in furthering STEM education for all students.
