Senior recognitions are bittersweet. York Knights Softball Coach Stewart honored her six Senior players at Thursday's game, thanking them for their commitment and dedication to the team.

Students who elect to take an Advanced Placement course agree to the additional workload that goes along with it.
Miss Andrzejczak's AP students recently completed work on their portfolios and it called for balloons and a cookie cake to celebrate their accomplishments.
High School Social Studies Teacher and School-to-Work Coordinator Mr. Bill MacKenzie accompanied a group of students to the Junior Achievement Titans of Business Competition in Rochester today.
Students from throughout the region participated in the challenge.

JA Titan is a simulation-based program in which high school students compete as business CEOs in the phone industry, experiencing firsthand how an organization evaluates alternatives, makes decisions, analyzes the outcomes of those decisions, and then strategizes what to do next. With a focus on financial literacy and insights into the workforce, JA Titan brings business economics to life. As students work in teams, or on their own, to make financial decisions about production, marketing, research and development (R&D), and corporate social responsibility (CSR), they begin to see how every choice made in an organization relates to its future success.”

Time to celebrate our Senior Knights 2025!
May 14 was Senior Night for the Boys & Girls Track and Field Teams. Coaches Guesno and Valentino proudly spoke about each Senior and thanked them for their dedication and contributions to their teams.
The teams competed in a tri-meet at home against Div. III rivals Pavilion and Warsaw, with the Knights winning against both teams.
Isabel Laney set a school record in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:09.00 and won the 1500 meter race.
Tessa Rodwell won the triple jump and the 400 meter run.
Rylee Cuozzo won the shot put and the discus.
Lena Balisciano took first place in the long jump.
Both the 4X100 and 4X800 relay teams from York were victorious.

Senior Isabel Laney set a new YCS record in the 400 M Hurdles with her time of 1:09:00.
She also won the 1500 M race at the May 13, 2025, Tri-meet with Pavilion and Warsaw.
It was Senior Night for the Lady Knights, making it even more memorable.

Sydney Boda
Sydney was a role model, embodying what it means to be committed and dedicated. She had almost perfect attendance at rehearsals, always came in with a positive attitude and ready to work hard. Whatever we asked her to do she graciously did with her best effort. Her shining moment was as the Shadow Dancer. Thank you, Sydney for your outstanding dedication and commitment to our show.
Maura Slane
Maura came in with enthusiasm, dedication, and a true passion for performing, quickly learning her part, embracing every aspect with energy and commitment. She was able to stay in character at all times, bringing depth and authenticity to every scene. Maura, your hard work and willingness to embrace this new experience did not go unnoticed. We are so proud of you!
Ben Peffers
A sixth grader, Ben brought passion and energy, lighting up the stage with his natural presence and sharp comedic timing. His ability to connect with the audience and embrace his character showed Ben not only has a natural gift for performing, but he also puts in the hard work to refine his skills. Ben, your enthusiasm and talent were a joy to watch. Keep shining!

York Central School District has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education distinction from The NAMM Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education. This marks the second consecutive year that YCS has received the distinction.
"This is a wonderful recognition for York Central School and the community. We appreciate all of the hard work by our extraordinary music department staff, Mr. Vogel, Mrs. Daeffler, Miss Dessert, and Mr. Nicassio, and the dedication of our talented students. We are very proud of you all and this accomplishment," said Superintendent of Schools David Furletti.
To qualify for the Best Communities for Music Education recognition, York School District provided data about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, and support for the music program and community music-making programs. Our data was verified and reviewed by The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas.

Fall Musical Once Upon a Mattress won 5 RBTL Stars of Tomorrow Awards
Spring Elementary School Musical Zombies (Grades 4 & 5)
HS Concert Band Won a Gold Award at the Zone 2 NYS School Music Association's Major Organization Festival. York HS was the only Livingston County School in the competition, all other bands were from suburban Monroe County Schools.
York CSD hosted Area All State Festival featuring about 400 student musicians.
8 YCS vocalists and instrumentalists performed in the All State Concert.
York MS & HS Concert Bands performed a concert with the Eastman Music Educators Wind Ensemble.
Over 40 YCS vocalists and instrumentalists performed in three All County Festivals this year.
Students are so excited when Mrs. Feltham brings out Cubetto, a wooden robot that students learn coding skills to program.
Today, Mrs. Streb's first grade students worked on creating algorithms with Cubetto to get to a location on their map during STEAM class.
The students enjoy this activity and have fun watching Cubetto make its way around the course.
Shhh... don't tell them they're learning valuable STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) skills!

The regular May BOE meeting will take place at 6 p.m. tonight in the auditorium.
Voting on the proposed 2025-2026 school budget and BOE seats is next Tuesday, May 20, 2025, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the foyer of Hilfiker Auditorium.

Reminder: Elementary PTO flower orders are ready for pick up today from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the elementary school cafeteria.
Mrs. Steward's fifth-grade students partnered with Mrs. Stamp's second-grade students for partner reading.
The students took turns reading to each other, and it was difficult to know who enjoyed this activity more, the young beginner readers or the older experienced readers, but many smiles were observed.
